Too spontaneous - not fast enough.

You want to have at least some stable ground. I know they label dubstep as "everything else" for adding stuff in music, but it's too random. I love you how set your basses though and what not, very nice placement it gives a GREAT glitchy feel. However your wub's and wob's were not correct.

It's nice I did this song too.

However the BPM is too fast. Loved it though.

4/5.

ninjapenguin1 responds:

Really? Awesome man, I love your stuff! :) And yeah, It is a bit faster than the original in-game version.

Never cease to impress me.

Once again, good song. You always have awesome leads, I bet this will make it to the top 30 ;).

F-777 responds:

Thanks so so much!!!

Hitting bad notes.

And I'm a straight up fan of dubstep and I'm working on my own remix. Good concept.

Not a bad concept.

Get out of the 8bit world! :( I hate to see your talents being wasted on the basic stuff. Get some good VST(i)'s!

Not a bad first attempt.

Better than mine ^_^.

Okay, where to start, make sure you're going at 140BPM, stay away from your usual 8BIT sounds, it gets a little clustered at the beginning. Also, try to make sure none of your sounds distort (When the snare hits usually for you) I like the merger from 8BIT to dubstep, however your drop was nothing. You need a heavy sound for the first hit. I can give you tutorials, etc if you want via MSN. I would love to give you a helping hand. However, please have some presets ;).

Cmdtrigun responds:

Cool, good advice, I'd definitely like to talk things over.

Deeper drop, different drop sound.

Sure it was funny, but it just didn't really spark it for me if you were aiming for deep or something. But yeah, try throwing all your dubstep sounds one octave, you'll come out with better sounds, I promise ;).

Few more pointers: Get a different kick and snare. The kick is too hard in the sense of treble, get a deeper kick. As for the snare it's too short, but it still works.

This is just my opinion but I never cared for the screamers, they just sound weird, but overall still a good song, just not my choice of sounds :P.

TuRdz responds:

Lol, thanks man! I'll probably add some reverb to the snare, I'll change up the kick too. And I'll might get some different voice clips.

Thanks for the pointers! Appreciate mate! :D

Very nice melodies!

I like how you ran this, very clearn it was good.

decoyultimatum responds:

thanks when i remake it in a bit im woried that it wont turn out quite the same i hope i can preserve the origional feel

Not drumstep, not dubstep. Basic elctro.

I want to give it a 6.5 but I rounded up. I don't mean to sound harsh, but it's brutally basic. Your lead pattern doesn't change, it's extremely short and it's actually off beat.

It's brutally simple- you turned a badly made riff into a "dubstep" track by using the chords to form ARP's and bass. Everything else- sound effects.

I've heard Drum step before and this is not it. Drum step has one lead, then crosses over to drumstep (Drumstep HAS dubstep in it, it just doesn't follow the basic "4-4 four to the floor" drums.)

YouriX responds:

Well, you are being terribly harsh IMHO. And therefore i feel this uncontrollable urge to defend my music to death.

This so called "badly" made riff was hard to make since i could not find a decent VST. So i sampled notes from someone playing the Japanees instrument to my best knowledge.

Off beat? What are talking about? Sounds good to me. ;)

Now why do i call it Drumstep? Well since my drum beat has a half step beat going on wich is something you hear alot in Dubstep. But has a higher BPM so i couldnt really call it DubStep, so i assumed you can place this song in the DrumStep category.

But really, does it really really matter what gerne i call this song? I dont think so....

And so WHAT if my lead pattrens doesnt change! Many songs have used same chords over and over without damaging the song in any way whats so ever. And this song being SHORT doesnt mean anything! I have seen nicley made songs that lasted 00:30seconds.

Whats wrong with the sound FX? Those also take time to make and they can really add to a song. They give that little umph you need in your songs. Is like eating a hotdog without ketchup. Yes, you can still enjoy it without ketchup but its just not that great.

Conclusion: Music is subjective and not objective. When making music you have a creative freedom there are rules but your not obligated to follow them strictly
So basicly..
I'm RIGHT and your WRONG.

Nice and slow.

I think the kick should be less wandering. Although it's pretty good :).

decoyultimatum responds:

describe wandering im not sure what you mean but thanks anyways :3
